12-Step Fellowships

  • The twelve-step program outlines a course of action for recovery through a set of guiding principles, or the “Twelve Steps”. Recoverees may be working to overcome addiction, compulsion, or other behavioral problems. Originally published in 1939, the Twelve Steps were first published as a book by Alcoholics Anonymous, titled “The Story of How More Than One Hundred Men Have Recovered from Alcoholism.” Many common twelve step programs include Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, and Cocaine Anonymous, all of which follow similar guiding principles.
