The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Criteria is the most widely used framework for assessing individuals with substance use disorders and determining appropriate level of care. This training provides an overview of the ASAM criteria’s purpose, dimensions, and best practices, working to build a practical foundation for effectively using it to guide placement decisions. Participants will learn how the ASAM assessment supports person-centered, strengths-based care and will be given the opportunity to apply the criteria in real-world scenarios to support learning and confidence.
