RALLY FOR RECOVERY 2017 Roger Williams Memorial, Providence
We are very grateful to Blue Cross/Blue Shield of RI for their very generous donation to RICARES. The donation was announced by the BCBS/RI President/CEO Kim Keck at a Community Meeting at the Avon Cinema. Meeting attendees viewed the film, ‘Chasing the Dragon: The Life of an Opiate Addict,’ and then heard a reactor panel discussion. Ms. Keck noted that BCBS/RI wants to be part of the solution to the current opioid accidental overdose death epidemic.
Rhode Island Communities for Addiction Recovery Efforts (RICARES), is the Recovery Community Organization (RCO) in the State of Rhode Island. RCOs are independent, non-profit organizations that are led and governed by people in recovery, their family members, friends, and allies. While each RCO is attentive to the needs of the particular community in which they function, all of us focus on the core purposes of education, advocacy, and peer based recovery support.
History has taught us that the media, public policy makers, and society in general can (and do) easily ignore the voice of an individual, but when we come together as one the impact that can be made is powerful, and life changing.
RICARES is a proud member if ARCO.
The Association of Recovery Community Organizations (ARCO) at Faces & Voices of Recovery unites and supports the growing network of local, regional and statewide recovery community organizations (RCOs). ARCO links RCOs and their leaders with local and national allies and provides training and technical assistance to groups. ARCO helps build the unified voice of the organized recovery community and fulfill our commitment to supporting the development of new groups and strengthening existing ones.
