ENVISIONING VIBRANT AND DIVERSE RHODE ISLAND RECOVERY COMMUNITIES

RICARES is a non-profit recovery community organization that organizes and mobilizes the more than 80,000 Rhode Islanders in recovery from alcohol and other drug problems, and our families, friends and allies.

RICARES, short for Rhode Island Communities for Addiction Recovery Efforts, is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by addiction. At RICARES, we provide a range of services aimed at promoting recovery and reducing the stigma surrounding substance use disorders. Our programs include peer support groups, educational workshops, advocacy efforts, and community outreach initiatives. Through our compassionate and empowering approach, we strive to create a supportive environment where individuals can find hope, healing, and the resources they need to embark on their journey towards lasting recovery.

We envision vibrant and diverse recovery communities that champion Rhode Islanders from any background at every stage of their unique recovery pathways.

RECOVERY COACHING

Recovery coaches are available for one-on-one support for community members with active addictions or in recovery from substance misuse and co-occurring behavioral health disorders. Recovery coaches are not therapists. Recovery coaches are trained in the art of recovery coaching and will partner with recoverees on an individual recovery wellness plan.

Recovery Advocacy

RECOVERY ADVOCACY

In the late 1990s, mobilization of individuals and families in recovery began grassroots recovery community organizations. Advocacy can take many forms with a wide array of ideas and strategies. Advocating for people in recovery can include coordinating needed resources to significant local, state, and national policy changes. Join a movement of individuals who care about folks struggling with substance use and co-occurring behavioral health disorders. We’d love for you to join us in this effort.

Recovery Housing

RECOVERY HOUSING

RICARES believes that safe and affordable housing is a crucial piece of Recovery Support Services. We are working with recovery houses in Rhode Island to certify houses to meet the national standard of recovery housing certification. We hope to turn the tide and make recovery housing in Rhode Island a supportive option that enhances recovery capital. See our Certification Conditions and Additional Standards.
